Certified Ethical Recruiment

Certified Ethical Recruiment

In response to concerns that have been raised around the world about the active recruitment of foreign‐educated health professionals, the Alliance for Ethical International Recruitment Practices was formed.

The Alliance is a non‐profit organization that aims to ensure that recruitment practices of foreign‐educated health professionals to the United States are ethical, responsible, and transparent. A multi‐stakeholder board that includes six sectors governs the Alliance: unions, professional associations, and US‐based foreign‐educated professional associations, employers, recruiters, and licensure bodies. It was created to promote and monitor compliance with the Voluntary Code of Conduct for the Ethical Recruitment of Foreign‐Educated Health Professionals to the United States.
Recruiters and employers that subscribe to the Voluntary Code of Conduct for the Ethical Recruitment of Foreign-Educated Health Professionals to the United States (Code) demonstrate industry leadership by committing to work in a serious and systematic way to improve recruitment practices and, by extension, improve the lives of the health workers they recruit, the quality of the care those health professionals provide to patients, and the impact the migration of health workers has had on source countries.  Earning the status of an Alliance Certified Subscriber demonstrates a commitment to conducting business within a framework of social responsibility.
The Alliance has launched a “Pilot Phase” scheduled to last through December 2012.

There are currently only three foreign nurse recruitment companies (staffing agencies) that are signatories of the Pilot phase of the Alliance’s program. NNI is the third and most recent signatory.
